The regatta course

With the World Rowing Masters Regatta (WRMR) 2024, the series of international sporting events on the regatta course Beetzsee, which serves as the venue for the event, is continued.

Opened in 1969, the natural course provides ample space for the races and the corresponding boat traffic. Despite its long history, the facilities are regularly updated for national and international championships.

The latest greater update included a free and permanent WiFi network for participants and spectators. The venue is the first major rowing regatta courses in Germany to offer such a service. However, such investments in modernization and maintenance of existing infrastructure are strongly supported with the award of high-level international events.

The 2024 WRMR continues the series of high-level FISA events that have been held at the Beetzsee regatta course.

Apart from the events from the early years of the regatta course, these include the Junior World Championships in 2005, the U23 World Championships in 2008 and the European Championships in 2016. After the 2024 World Rowing Masters Regatta, Brandenburg will host the 2026 European Junior Championships (U19).

The venue itself offers many permanent buildings for the competitors, including large locker rooms, showers, toilets, a medical center, a large catering area and a separate regatta information/office building. All of these buildings are located in close proximity to the permanent boating area. For the WRMR, the boating area will be expanded and additional space will be used for boat storage. However, the distances will be kept short to facilitate the transport of boats between the pontoons and the storage areas.

The partially covered and permanently installed grandstand is located in the immediate vicinity of the finish line. Immediately behind the grandstand and its surroundings will be a catering area.

In addition, the permanent 64 m² video wall opposite the grandstand will allow spectators to watch the starts and the victory ceremonies.

With the bid for the 2013 World Championships, the course was prepared for para rowing competitions. Since 2014, para rowing competitions have been held on the regatta course, including regional championships with para races. Barrier-free facilities, paths and special toilets allow disabled participants to use the facility appropriately. Together with World Rowing, para events will be planned for the 2024 WRMR.
