More than 3,600 athletes will compete at the 2024 World Rowing Masters Regatta on the Beetzsee. The preparations for this major sporting event which is in its Golden Jubilee (50 years) are in full swing.

A total of 3,644 rowers from 51 countries have registered for the event, making it the largest regatta organized by World Rowing in 2024. “We are very pleased with the strong entry numbers. In the approximately 680 races that will be held over the five days of competition, with starts every three minutes, rowers from 736 clubs across the globe will compete in various boat classes for a total of 2,430 medals,” said Volker Garmatter, who heads the organizing committee for the 2024 WRMR.

According to the registration data, 38 percent of the participants are women, with an average age of 53 years. The average age among men is 58 years. The oldest female rower is 89 years old, while the oldest male participant is a proud 98 years old. A total of 117 athletes, known as “Octos,” are over 80 years old and will receive special recognition for their participation in the regatta. The entries for the mixed events on Sunday 15 September are still open and we encourage people to enter these fun and competitive races. Entries can be made until Friday 13 September 18:00 CET (local Brandenburg time) via Regattacentral or directly at the Regatta site at the Mixed Entry desk at the venue.
